After teasing us with excellent singles such as ‘Freedom’ featured on this project, the American Hip Hop duo of producer and beatmaker Apollo Brown and the free-spirited MC Che’ Noir have served up the new album, a package featuring Black Thought of The Roots, Skyzoo, Planet Asia, Ty Fariss, and Blakk Soul.
As God Intended is a story of, as indicated in promo release material, Buffalo and Detroit cities, once US most thriving cities now known as ‘frigid temperatures and violent crimes.’ The album offers a view into the inner-city happenings, random gunshot sounds, absentee fathers, the rot in the system, and an explicit description of these two areas’ current state.
Che’ picks her words with the specific intent of letting us know that she’s not allowing anyone in her carefully designed music space, cutting off lame rappers with every swing of her blade, the whole album sits on smooth raps, and unmistakable Apollo Brown mid-tempo beats, a shave off boom-bap, with gritty, crude edges laced with soulful waves, sampling a perfect fabric for Che’ to speak her mind tackling themes related to betrayal, family, violence, loss, growth, inequality, and racism.
Apollo Brown’s hand on the instrumentals and Che’ Noir’s refreshing brand of emceeing are an impressive blend of artists from different states with the abilities to define a unique home for their expressions and passion resulting in 14 fresh and relatable storylines with a ton of head-nodding experiences.
