After sharing the ‘Give A Little’ video and offering a peek into her music trajectory, the British-Nigerian singer has finally released her debut album titled Honey For Wounds.
Her ‘Give A Little’ video, directed by Natalie Wilson, provided perfect visuals for the surreal song, the Eun-produced track fuses jazz and soul influences brought to life by the singer’s sprite vocals with healing vibrations to it.
The debut album is expected to form based on ‘Give A Little’ texture, a package that blends Jazz, R&B, and neo-soul. Being her first full album, May is expected to be on the driver seat rather than taking a back seat or ceding artistic control.
While announcing the planned release on social media, the artist described the project as an album, a real album of the heart, for you. Music to heal to. “I’m so honored to be of service in this way. LOVE you all, and thank you so much for your continued patience with my slow ass. The countdown begins now!!” she tweeted.
The 11-track album released under UpperRoom Records is a follow-up to last year’s anthology of past releases. It features productions from Mini D, Wu-Lu, Sam Posener, Eun, Tom Excell, Alfa Mist, Melo Zed, Wonky Logic, and herself.
Other artists on the project are Joe Armon Jones & Ashley Henry (Keys) Oscar Jerome & Andrew Ashong (Guitar) Eddie Hick & Samuel Michnik (Drums), Maralisa (Vocals), Theo Croker (Trumpet).
