So, this incredible Zimbabwean singer decided to take a journey across Africa for several days, well, about 500 days. That was in 2018, and so she did 24000Kms through 10 countries.
She made this trip in her car, the classic Landrover Defender, Gemma carried a studio and instrumentals for this journey, hey, the music goes wherever she goes.
For more than 18 months, she and filmmaker Marc Neilson lived in the car as they traveled and chanced with other musicians in the continent. During this adventure, the singer, wrote and recorded her debut album, now how awesome is that?
The latest release is the first single from her project and was released on the 500th day of her journey. ‘Ndinewe is an introduction to her story on a journey that took her to countries like Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, and South Africa, among others.
‘Ndinewe’ features African folk, soulful texture with familiar pop sounds birthing those much desired positive vibes thanks to the effortless catchy lyrics.
The video was filmed on the road and gives us a glimpse of how much fun the singer had, during the expedition, the people she met as her cheerful character offers life to the vibrant images directed by Marc Neilson.
