German Label Habibi Funk Shares Sharhabil Ahmeda’s ‘El Bambi’ Single Off The Upcoming’The King Of Sudanese Jazz’ Compilation LP

As we await the official release of Habibi Funk LP in honor of Sudanese Jazz legend Sharhabil Ahmeda, the German label has offered yet another track, ‘El Bambi’ a gem off the LP titled The King Of Sudanese Jazz.

The song recorded initially in the 60s is the second track off the collection which is scheduled for release next month. The project is collage of his selected works through his career, interviews and archival photographs.

Sharhabil Ahmeda who is a singer, songwriter and guitarist was born in 1935. His music was a fusion of western influences; rock ‘n’ roll, funk, Congolese music and East African harmonies and Haqiba style of music. The singer sought to modernise Sudanese music with his compositions which became popular and were seen as more progressive.

“I have absorbed different in uences, from traditional Sudanese rhythms to calypso and jazz, and I hold them together in my music with no difficulty” He says
