Microsoft To Resume Optional Non-Security Windows Update Next Month

Microsoft has announced that it will be rolling out non-security updates again starting July. The optional upgrades will only be for Windows 10 and Windows Server version 1809 and later.

The tech company held back on the updates in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in March to focus on improving security to ensure that those working from home do not get bogged down by security issues.

The updates which will be released every third week of the month will be tagged ‘preview,’ making it clear to the user that they are non-security and won’t get installed automatically.

As part of Patch Tuesday, Microsoft will keep releasing security updates every second week of the month.
