Epic Records has signed South African sensation Sho Madjozi. The latest announcement follows her recent nomination for Best New International Artist on Sunday’s BET Awards for the second time. The rapper cum actor’s star keeps shinning, and now the joins the likes of Future and Travis Scott, who are part of the label.
Variety reports that in developing Sho Madjozi, Epic will collaborate with Sony Music Entertainment Africa (SMEA). “African artists are enjoying an unprecedented level of visibility in music, and Sho Madjozi is beautifully waving the flag for South Africa. She’s bold, brilliant, and remarkably talented, and her music embodies all that is special about her homeland. We’re honored to have her as the newest member of the Epic family.” Sean Watson, managing director of SMEA said.
Sho Madjozi made her grand debut in 2017 and quickly emerged as one of the top artists from Africa; her music predominantly features Xitsonga language and English. The rapper has also gained admiration for her mastery of the Swahili language.
Some of the artist’s top hits include ‘John Cena,’ ‘Kona,’ and ‘Huku.’ She won the BET’s Best New International Act Award in 2019 and also bagged the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award in the Favorite African Star category.
