Jamaican reggae legend Martin James Ziggy Norman Riley aka Jimmy Riley has passed on aged 61.
The artiste died while in the US after a long battle with cancer.
Riley, born in Jones Town Jamaica, has worked with several artistes and influential groups; he formed the group called The Sensations and was a key figure of The Uniques which was led by the late Slim Smith. However, his success grew after he went solo.
Riley is the man behind hits like; “love and Devotion”, “My Woman’s Love” and Black Mother’s Prayers”
According to Jamaica Observer, Jamaican entertainment minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange paid tribute to her close acquaintance describing Riley’s death as a blow to the country’s entertainment industry.
Top entertainers from across the globe have also paid tribute to Riley.
The veteran musician is the father of the successful reggae act Tarrus Riley whom he helped nature as an artiste.
