The murder of Jam Master Jay, a DJ member of the legendary Hip Hop outfit Run DMC, has remained unsolved, but 18 years later, US federal authorities have charged two men long suspected to be behind the murder that took place in 2002.
According to a report by The New York Times, quoting anonymous law enforcement officials, the duo Ronald Washington who is already serving a sentence for robbery and Karl Jordan, Jr. arrested Sunday, were indicted on charges of murder while engaged in drug trafficking.
The New York Times further reports that investigators believe the late DJ was involved in the finances of the drug-trafficking operation that led to his murder inside a Queens recording studio.
In prior investigations, investigators followed a theory that someone was trying to get back at 50 Cent, a protégé of the legendary DJ by killing Jam Master Jay, the theory has since been abandoned.
The legendary DJ born Jason Mizell, together with Run born (Joseph Simmons) and DMC official name Daryl McDaniels formed the iconic Run-DMC group, which became the first Hip Hop group to reach mainstream popularity. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 for their groundbreaking legacy.
